02.04.08 Embassy embarks on 2008 Le Mans Series

Embassy Auto team are currently in Montmelo, Spain, just north of Barcelona, finalising their preparations for the first race of the 2008 Le Mans Series.

WF01 Barca

The two WF01's have been in Spain for just under a week after they departed Adria, Italy following a two day test there last week, and headed straight for the Catalonian capital. The cars were closely followed by the auto team themselves who are now perfecting them for the race proper on April 6th, after some last minute testing at a proving ground enroute to the Circuit de Catalunya.

With long straights and a variety of corners, the circuit, which is home to the Spanish Grandprix is seen as a true test of a car's all-round ability. It mixes long straights with fast, flowing corners, and also tight turns, which is why it is probably one of motorsport's most used testing tracks.

Team Principal Jonathan France gave his views on the forthcoming race

“It is a racetrack that a lot of more professional drivers are familiar with due to the amount of testing done there, but the conditions can change drastically at this particular circuit, which in an endurance race such as this, makes for very interesting racing. There has been a long period of hard work, excitement and anticipation for the entire Embassy team and everyone involved in the WF01 project. Now the waiting is over and the real work begins. I am looking forward to what I hope will be an exciting, entertaining and hopefully successful series for us.”
