20.11.07 Kane and Foster sign for Embassy

It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce that Jonny Kane and Joey Foster will join the Embassy Racing driver line-up for our 2008 Le Mans Series campaign.

Ex Formula 3 Champion, Jonny Kane is a prodigious talent and has huge experience in both GT, prototypes and single seaters. Awarded the BRDC McLaren/Autosport Young Driver of the Year in 1995, Jonny achieved no less than 7 Championships in Europe before relocating to the States where he competed for Team Kool Green in the Indy Lights series. Recent highlights include a podium for the factory Spyker team in the 2006 GT2 Le Mans Series and he has just completed a full season in another Spyker with Team Speedy Racing - where he was consistently as quick if not quicker than the factory drivers. Having secured factory drives in the 2006 and 2007 Le Mans 24 Hours and seconded to A1 GP as their Bio Fuel test driver, Jonny has a reputation second to none and his talents are in great demand throughout the motor racing world.

About joining Embassy Jonny says:

“I am delighted to be joining such a dynamic and progressive team. I have been aware of Embassy right from their first foray into British GT and have always been impressed with the way they have competed and presented themselves. I have seen them grow into one of the most professional outfits racing today and jumped at the chance to talk to them about a drive in 2008. I already knew Jonathan quite well and was keen to make the deal happen. I am looking forward to next year and am very excited about the possibilities especially with the new car.”

Having begun his racing career in 1995, Joey Foster has made his name in single seaters, winning many admirers with his skilful car control. A very determined young man, his metal was tested in 2006 when, coming off the back of a year in the American Cooper Tires USFF2000 series, he had a massive accident and broke his neck and back. Having undergone a number of operations, Joey is now fully fit and ready to show that he has lost none of his pace with the Embassy LMP2 WF01. Recent outings in the Walter Hayes Trophy and Formula Ford testing have gone well and indications that Joey will be up to the LMP2 task are all good.

Joey comments:

“This is a dream return for me. To get the opportunity, after everything I have been through, to work with Embassy and Jonathan France is more than I could have imagined. All the disappointment of the accident is behind me now; I am 100% fit and ready to accept the challenge of the Le Mans Series. I am fully committed and will do whatever it takes to repay Jonathan for the faith he has placed in me. Bring on 2008, I can’t wait.”

Jonathan France says:

“Both Jonny and Joey have been on my wish list for some time. I follow driver’s careers very closely and they both caught my eye early on. Although Joey has had a difficult time over the last year or so, I am certain that he will quickly prove he has what it takes to become a leading prototype driver. Jonny has continually impressed with his skill, attitude and professional approach and has done the very best job he can in whatever he has been asked to drive. I believe that by balancing the combination of youth and experience we will get even more from our drivers in 2008 and Jonny and Joey are very much an integral part of my plans.”
