16 Hours 35 minutes in: Embassy withdraw from the race

16 Hours 35 minutes in and Embassy withdraw from the race

The 45 Embassy Racing WF01 has officially been withdrawn from the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours. It seems the damage is just too great to be repaired in time to take any further meaningful part in the race and the sensible thing to do is inform the ACO of this fact. Huge disappointment all round, but heads held high as the car, drivers, team and everyone connected with the LM24 effort have acquitted themselves with professionalism, dignity and pride throughout. Bad luck but much Kudos to all…

And as with everything Embassy – it’s never really over – the bikes go at it again later today with Glen on Pole and Paul on the second row for the Snetterton round of British Supersport – and AJ starting the Superstock race from 4th. The dream continues…

15 hours 43 minutes

No complete details as yet but from 5th place at 06.43 this morning the WF01 was involved in an incident with Joey at the wheel. Driver is OK and the car has limped back to the pits – damage is currently being assessed to see if repair can be affected in time. Fingers crossed.

8 Hours 35 minutes in and we're back

Problem sorted – we never doubted it!

Back running and refreshed for the long night. Still 6th but less than a full lap ahead of the Barazi boys. Everything to race for and this is where the Le Mans 24 Hours gets real. We are prepared and ready so bring it on!

7 Hours in and first issue hits

With Joey in the car around 7 hours and 111 laps into the race, the WF01 has pitted with what seems to be an electrical problem. The team are on it, but laps are being lost – though there is still plenty of time to find the fix and make the time up. Come on boys!

6 Hours 40 minutes in

Still no major dramas in the Embassy camp. All drivers have now been in the car twice and things are running as smoothly as can be expected for a team in its first visit to the Le Mans 24 Hours. The car is not quite up there with the fastest in class, but the position is still an excellent one from which to prove reliability, longevity and determination – three elements which could still bring a podium finish for us.

3 Hours 20 Minutes in

After taking the rolling start, Warren drove a faultless double stint with car, driver and team working in perfect harmony. The second pit stop saw Jonny get behind the wheel, another sublime double stint and then it was over to Joey. Just coming up to his first stop for fuel, Joey is putting in good lap times and the Embassy Racing WF01 is settled in a comfortable 5th in class, just 5 seconds off 4th place Barazi Epsilon car.

A reassuringly confident start for the new boys from Embassy.
