08.05.08 Spa-weekend for Embassy

Embassy left the glorious British sunshine behind this week to make the trip to Belgium for the third round of the Le Mans Series in Spa. After scoring our first ever points as constructors at the last round in Monza the team is looking to build on that success and add to our points total.

In addition, we are all very excited to welcome driver Tom Kimer-Smith, who will join Embassy Racing this weekend. Confirmed to be paired in the 46 WF01 with Joey Foster, Tom has limited experience of prototypes, but in his only LMP2 drive to date, he qualified for the 2007 Silverstone round of the LMS in class pole, 4th overall and brought the Zytek car home in second place.

With Tom partnering Joey in Car 46, regular 46 driver Jonny Kane will move into the 45 WF01 to join Warren Hughes.

Spa Circuit

We are in for an exciting weekend as a dull race at Spa is very rare, and most drivers today say that the circuit is one of the two most challenging race tracks in the world alongside Japan’s Suzuka Circuit . Spa demonstrates the importance of driver skill more than any other in the world. This is largely due to the Eau Rouge and Blanchimont corners, both which need to be taken flat-out to achieve a fast run onto the straights after them, which aids drivers in both a fast lap and in over-taking, something that our drivers will be conscious of this weekend.
