19.07.08 Venter qualifies in 3rd

AJ Venter kept up his recent impressive form at Oulton Park this morning, qualifying his MAP Embassy Triumph in third place on the front row for the Metzeler Superstock 600 race at 3:10pm today.

Although there was no rain throughout the session, overnight showers had made the circuit particularly tricky to navigate and having qualified in 3rd position during the first session on Friday it was clear that everyone would struggle to better their times in the wet today. That was to be the case, but AJ rode throughout the session and is clearly beginning to feel more comfortable riding in the wet, setting the second fastest time of the session.

AJ seemed pleased with his performance and was confident of a podium finish this afternoon

“Despite the wet surface I really enjoyed it out there. I have had some practice in similar conditions in the weeks since Snetterton and it seems to be paying off. Even so I would like the track to have dried out before the race later today and then I can really go for it. The weather report is mixed and I just hope it isn’t one of those days where we have to make a decision on tyres at the last minute. It would be great to get on the podium again and hopefully we can achieve that today.
