Glen Richards will start in pole position tomorrow as he bids to tie up the British Supersport Championship at Silverstone. He will have to fend off his usual nemesis Hudson Kennaugh who took P2, but Glen is confident of a race win.

Paul Young kept up his impressive form all weekend qualifying 3rd on a grid that will have three Triumphs on the front row as Rob Frost put his Team Buff 675 in 4th.

Glen gave us his thoughts ahead of tomorrow’s race
“Tomorrow is going to be very tight, there are some great riders on the front row and I don’t know who I’m more worried about, Hudson or Youngy!
I’m hoping Youngy can hassle Hudson enough to let me just go out there and race my own race but I know Youngy smells a podium here this weekend and he won’t give that up lightly either. It will be very interesting.”
It makes for a tense and exciting race on Sunday and Embassy, racing wise, are in the best possible position they have been in all year. However, away from the track the team are having some operational problems.
Team Principal Jonathan France has taken the decision to redirect his finances due to the global economic downturn and is no longer prepared to meet the financial commitments required to keep a motor racing team functioning at the highest level, which means the team has lost its 2009 funding.
Team Manager Myles Schofield has already negotiated retainers for all team personnel and is confident of putting together the logistical and operational support required to continue to run the team in the same manner as the so far highly successful 2008. Myles will be approaching team sponsors MAP and Triumph this week in the hope of securing significant support that could help persuade other interested parties onboard with cash assistance.
Myles said
“Although for the moment, the team’s deal with Triumph for 2009 remains in place, the project cannot be seriously considered until the funding shortfall can be found. We are hopefully going to be a championship wining team and can justifiably claim to prepare the world’s most competitive 675s racing today, hopefully somebody will see that pedigree and potential and jump onboard.
The team were informed of the news on Thursday, which makes for less than perfect preparation for arguably our most important race to date, but the entire team have been high spirited, professional and determined throughout. I’m very proud of them and hope they can reap the rewards tomorrow afternoon.”
